Director Inna Sahakyan is making a documentary about weightlifter Meline Daluzyan (already Mel).

Mel is among the full-fledged projects of the second round of 65 applications submitted to the Armenian National Film Center in 2019. The state has allocated 20 million AMD for financing the film.

Inna Sahakyan is also the author of the script. In an interview with Haykakan Zhamanak, Inna said that not being a lover of weightlifting, she had followed Meline Daluzyan's speeches since 2006 and was proud of every kilo she had raised. “He ascended steadily up the stairs of glory; Armenian champion, double European champion, world unbeaten record. I admired him and his teammates, not only because of his many tricolors and anthems around the world, but also because he was breaking stereotypes. She was shining in a sport that had been considered masculine for many years, and the Armenian woman seemed to have nothing to do in that sport. "

Mel Daluzyan has been living in the Netherlands for several years. Years ago she began to talk openly about her sexuality, declaring that although she was a biologically born girl, she had felt a boy since childhood and could not imagine otherwise. Daluzyan's statements were criticized and stonewalled by the public, followed by Mel's quitting and emigrating from Armenia.
