As it is known, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sharply criticized the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, accusing him of "disrupting the talks. He also provided sensational details about his and Pashinyan's behind-the-scenes consultations.

Aliyev stated in a direct text that when he came to power, the Prime Minister of Armenia started sending encouraging signals to the Azerbaijani side. What secret messages, then, did Pashinyan send to Aliyev?

According to one of the semi-official Azerbaijani media outlets, in July-August 2018, a few months after Nikol Pashinyan came to power in Armenia as a result of the color revolution, one of his main ideologues, who is also one of the co-founders of the "Civil Contract" locomotive, Arsen Kharatyan turned to an Azerbaijani government source, offering to start direct talks. At that time, Arsen Kharatyan had already resigned from the post of Foreign Policy Adviser to the Prime Minister of Armenia and had established himself in Tbilisi as the head of an NGO funded by the Soros Foundation. During a meeting with a representative of the Azerbaijani government in one of the European countries, Arsen Kharatchain openly stated that he represents Pashinyan, who is interested in a new format of negotiations and is ready for serious compromises based on a new model of settlement.
